Treatment Modalities

Skipping Stones Wellness uses a blend of different approaches depending on the client’s needs and preferences.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive-behavioral therapy focuses on changing the automatic negative thoughts that can contribute to and worsen emotional difficulties, depression, and anxiety. Through this work the counselor and client will work to uncover unhealthy thought patterns. Through CBT, these thoughts are identified, challenged, and replaced with more objective, realistic thoughts. These changes can offer a healthier, more positive outlook and help a person change their behaviors and beliefs.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
This therapy combines the best of CBT with mindfulness strategies that help clients assess thoughts in the present.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
A short-term, goal-focused, evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practices, and which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems.

Creative-Arts Therapy
Creative art therapy aims to engage the mind through various methods of creativity. Creative art therapy allows people to express how they are feeling through different mediums, such as art, music, play, or poetry.

Client-Centered Therapy:
A non-directive approach to talk therapy. It requires the client to actively take the reins during sessions, while the therapist acts mainly as a guide or a source of support for the client. It centers the client in a more positive and inclusive manner, providing deeper insight into the difficult situation they’re facing while also maximizing their ability to resolve it on their own.
